About American Express statements
Card statements: no running balance per line, so PayoutParse checks against the statement's previous and new balance. PayoutParse reads the printed lines rather than relying on a fixed template, so older layouts and business account variants work the same way.
The CSV you get
Columns are Date (ISO), Description, Amount (signed, money in positive), Balance where the statement prints one, Reference, and Category. It opens in Excel and Google Sheets without any changes.
When you'd use this instead of a bank feed
Bank feeds cover the last 12 months at most and only from the day you connect them. Historic periods, closed accounts, accounts a client won't connect, and statements handed over as PDFs at year end all need a file import. That is what this is for.
